Dr Andrew Freris has joined Ucap Hong Kong Asset Management Ltd as Chief Strategist from 1st of November 2021.

Andrew joins us from Ecognosis Advisory Ltd , where he was the Founder and CEO. Prior to starting his own consultancy, he has had 24 years of Investment Banking experience , the last being with BNP Paribas in Hong Kong as Chief Economist , Asia, Head of Asia Credit Research and Chief Investment Advisor for Asia. His Investment Banking experience spanned major global Institutions like Bank of America, Salomon Brothers and GT Capital.

Andrew is also an accomplished academic, with 22 years of experience across institutions like the Metropolitan City University, London and the City University, Hong Kong where he was Head of the Finance and Economics Department from 1985-1990. He holds a doctorate degree from the London School of Economics.

Apart from his experience in investment banking and academia, Andrew has wide experience as a speaker and has been invited to various countries. He has excellent media links and exposure in CNBC, Bloomberg, Reuters, CNA, RTHK and other Asian media outlets. He and his wife, Anabella run the non-profit Chopin Society of Hong Kong which organises classical music and educational events. They also run in Young, Uruguay a non-profit cultural centre, The Parnaso, which has a library for books and one for music and presents literary and musical events.
